Grandia III

Grandia III Review

I've yet to finish that game, or probably get halfway through, but so far, I'm greatly enjoying the feel and style of the game.

The dialogue is amusing and has its corniness, but it only adds to the mood and keeps things relatively light-hearted when the moment needs it. The graphics are definitely enjoyable, and I like the mix of CG and art for dialogue. Although having a different kind of cutscene rather than the game's general graphics would be nice, they work well enough.

The gameplay is smooth, and the characters are very enjoyable. Playing through the games makes me feel like I'm playing through a well developed anime, one that is mostly simple and doesn't try to take itself too seriously, but obviously has more in store for you.

I think it's worth the buy if you enjoy Grandia games, or just want a good game to play through.

Grandia III Feature

  • Create incredible combos and try your hand at magic as you explore a strange new world filled with amazing enemies
  • Intuitive combat system with a wide range of options -- and even more waiting to be unlocked
  • Incredible visuals bring the strange and beautiful world of Grandia to life
Sky Captain Schmidt was a legendary flyer who could fly faster and more beautifully than anyone in the world. Although he has nearly faded from the memories of most, he is still an inspiration to a generation of aspiring young pilots. On a small island in the middle of the sea is Anfog, a quiet and peaceful village. And tucked away in a corner of this village is a simple garage, from which the sounds of hammering can frequently be heard. Inspired by tales of Sky Captain Schmidt, a young man named Yuki is building his own airplane. Someday Ill leave this village and fly over the sea, all the way to the mainland, he thinks. Yuki stares at his Flight Unit, the magical orb that provides power for all airplanes, his eyes distant as he imagines the vast sky stretching out in front of him. In the woods not far away, a young girl rides alone on a horse-drawn carriage. Her name is Alfina, and she is a Communicator, one of the few who can speak with the Guardians, the giant beastlike gods that protect the citizens of this world. She is hurrying to the temple at Arcriff to take the place of her brother, who has disappeared. As the world faces the greatest danger it has ever known, fate brings these two young people together. Can a would-be pilot and an inexperienced Communicator save the world?

Not up to par with what you would expect for a Square Enix game. Looks okay, kinda boring. Story is so-so. Looks okay. Soundtrack is unmemorable.

Does what all video games are supposed to do - waste time. However, with this game I was aware that I was wasting time.

The only way I would recommend this game is if you've played through all the games at home multiple times, there's nothing else available to purchase, and you have extra money you don't mind spending on the game.

Soars and Crashes - Jonathan M. Cook - Bridgeport, WV USA
I guess I grew up between playing the second installment and this, because whatever fun can be gained from the battle system is immediately marred by mediocre voice acting and an insultingly simple story riddled with what could be the most plot holes I have seen in a game.

One young girl, Elena a Granas Songstress, is the key to keeping the seal intact.

As the ceremony is about to begin, things go terribly wrong and evil forces are released onto the world. Great Game, Bad Programming - J. Yost -
This game is a worthy mention among RPG gamers but unfortunately, this port by this company, Revival did a terrible job. I bought this game thinking that I could overcome any poor programming that the guy before complained about because I have some skill in computer program troubleshooting. I worked on it for hours and got it to only work occasionally for short periods of time. It seems that this game, despite its claims, does not support Windows XP. There are forums filled with people complaining about this game and ideas on how to make it work. In short, unless you are a computer programmer by trade with a lot of patience and free time, avoid this version on the game.

Radiata Stories

Radiata Stories Review

This game has one of the largest list of playable characters of any game I have ever seen, almost any character you meet can join your party. It has more then one ending and The general pay off for play is pretty interesting as a whole. You can follow any character you encounter in the game through out the city during the day and night and see were they spend there time all day long. The characters also say something different to you depending on were they are. As you befriend and meet more characters who would not mind being in your group you are then capable of getting others to join you if there in your group or any other number of suggested things. The interaction with the other characters in this game is a big jewel of this game. But the game play and over all content and feel is also a big plus, the art style is great and seems to lend to the developer trying to get the most out of the game. I would greatly recommend this game to any player who likes story and development during play. Because growth and characters you make friends with and a number of other things affect players you can party with along with a number of other things Its a great take as a whole to how you might enjoy the game.

Radiata Stories Feature

  • Features real-time action with characters moving freely on the battle map while attacking
  • New Link system allows players to determine formation for their characters
  • Build up your strength on the Bolty meter, which allows players to execute special actions and super attacks
  • An incredible 300 NPCs will be available, all with their own personalities -- more than 150 of them will be recruitable into your party
The kingdom of Radata lies in a world where humans and fairy creatures coexist. Jack is the son of the late hero and dragon slayer of Radiata. On his 16th birthday he tries to become a knight of Radiata, to test his strength and to be one step closer to his father who he admires. Ridley is the only daughter of a noble family, raised to be a knight from a young age. These two become knights of the kingdom, only to be faced with a terrible war that threatens to doom their world.
